Coaching Article: Coaching From the Inside Out
If so, then you're living from the outside in. Living from the inside out empowers you to remain balanced no matter what's going on around you. How can you live from the inside out? It's very simple. When you know your life values and honor them, you live your life from the inside out. You have the freedom to choose rather than being influenced by outside circumstances - relationships, jobs, your limiting beliefs, other people's beliefs, and more. As you honor your essential self and your core values, and then align your actions with this essence, outer conditions begin to transform and improve more easily. Working from the inside out puts you in control of your life and takes you out of victim mode, giving you personal power. The most effective way for you to make lasting change is from the inside out. Making changes from the outside in is similar to depending on the advice of others versus trusting the answers that come from within you. Change from the outside in typically takes more effort and energy as you try to conform to what someone else has told you would be best for you. You can use this Inside-Out Image as you do this simple exercise to gain clarity about how this can work in your own life. 1. Think of a situation or choice you're faced with in your life right now. Work your way from the center out, first identifying your life values that apply and then the boundaries. Notice your thoughts and feelings. 2. Next, start from the outside, working your way back into the center, relating each layer to the next as you go. Notice the difference in how you feel when you work from the inside out versus how you feel when you work from the outside in.
